Prostate Milking Guide

Often when reading about prostate massage, you’ll see a lot of information about prostate milking. This is a similar, but slightly different practise.

Prostate milking can be great for men to do regularly, as it can help keep the prostate in it’s most healthy condition. Doing this can also carry many benefits for other parts of your body too!

What is Prostate Milking?

Prostate milking is a type of prostate stimulation with a very specific purpose. Rather than simply doing it because it feels good or you want to have an orgasm, prostate stimulation is done to try and release all the fluid built up inside the gland.

That isn’t to say prostate massage doesn’t feel good though! You can still enjoy it as much as a regular massage, and some men are able to reach orgasm while milking their prostate.

Why Should You Milk Your Prostate

While prostate milking is a relatively simple process, most people will simply wonder why they should do it! There are a lot of different reasons that make prostate massage beneficial.

The primary reason to do it is to release the fluid built up inside your prostate gland. As you milk the prostate, large amounts of fluids can be pushed down your penis and out of your body.

This fluid is called prostatic fluid, and is an important component of your semen. Usually the fluid becomes mixed with sperm from the testicles, and protects the sperm as it enters the female body.

However this fluid isn’t only produced while you are aroused or having sex! The prostate gland can continually produce fluid all the time. If you’re not regularly having sex, more and more prostatic fluid can build up, and some people will suffer from an enlarged prostate gland.

Releasing all of this fluid can help return the prostate to it’s usual size and alleviate many symptoms associated with an enlarged prostate.

Doctors may also perform a “drainage” of the prostate gland if they notice any problems with it during a digital rectal examination. They will collect a sample of the fluid from the gland which they can later check for infections or other problems.

People suffering chronic prostatitis may have to visit their doctor several times a month to have their prostate milked.

Alongside these benefits to the prostate itself, prostate milking can help with a variety of other conditions including:

  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Ejaculation problems
  • Urination problems
  • Reduce pain in urination or other pelvic areas
  • Improved circulation in and around the prostate

We still haven’t mentioned the original reason doctors began to milk or recommend milking to people. It can help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer that affects men, and in recent years has become more common than breast cancer in women! Anything that can reduce the risk of getting this disease is definitely worth a try in our books!

How to Milk Your Prostate

Milking your prostate is a relatively simple process, but the most common way to do it is through anal penetration. As with any kind of anal activity, it’s always good to be prepared, and know what you’re going to do ahead of time. This can take a lot of the pressure off and make your experience a lot more enjoyable.

The first stage of any prostate milking session should be preparation and relaxation. As you’ll be putting your fingers inside your anus, you will probably want to make sure things are as clean as possible.

For most people simply taking a shower and giving your anus a thorough clean will be plenty. Some people are more worried about getting poop on their hands though, so using an anal douche or enema can help to make sure that things are as clean as possible.

You should also try to empty your bowels while you are in the bathroom, to help make it as easy as possible to find and access the prostate gland with no obstructions.

Doing all of this around an hour before you plan to start your milking session tends to be appropriate.

The final part of your preparation should be lubrication. No matter what you’re doing, if you plan to insert anything into the anus, you should use lubrication. The skin in and around the anus is some of the most sensitive in the body, and can easily be torn or damaged by friction between the anus and your finger.

Lubrication completely alleviates this, and provides an effective barrier between your anal skin and anything you insert.

You should use plenty of lube, and always keep it handy during your session so you can apply more whenever you need to.

Starting Your Massage

With all the preparation out of the way, you’ll be ready to start your prostate massage. You should take your time throughout all of these early stages, especially if you’re new to anal play. Rushing things can result in some pain, and if you’re particularly rough it can even damage the sensitive nerves inside your anus.

The best way to get your finger inside is to gently rest the pad of your finger on the anus, and then gently push, much like you would a doorbell. If you’ve used enough lube, it should just gently slide inside.

Once you’ve got the first part of your finger inside, it’s usually best to take a little rest, and let your anal sphincters get used to the sensations. When you feel ready, gently slide the finger a little further inside. Continue alternating small rests with slightly deeper penetration until you’ve got your entire finger inside.

Now you can start to find your prostate. We discuss this in more detail in our introduction to prostate massage, so if you’re unsure how to do this, check out this article for more info!

Prostate Massage Techniques

Once you’re inside and have located your prostate, you can start milking it!

There are many, many different ways you can do this, so you’ll need to do a little experimentation to try and find what feels the most enjoyable to you. To get you started, here are a few of the most common techniques people use to milk their prostate:

    • Pressing the doorbell: Just as you used the doorbell technique to open up your sphincter and insert your finger into your anus, you can repeat the technique on the prostate itself. Gently applying pressure to the prostate and then releasing it can be a nice introduction to prostate milking. You can change the pressure each time you press down, or vary the frequency to change the stimulation.
    • Come to me motions: This is the motion you make with your finger when you gesture to have someone come over or move closer to you. You can use this same motion to gently stroke the prostate gland.
  • Circling the gland: Another movement many people enjoy is to simply make rings around the gland with their finger. You can change how tight the circle is, sometimes making large rings around the edge, and other times making tighter circles on the gland itself.
  • Fake vibrations: If you get the hang of using your fingers to stimulate the prostate, you can practise moving your finger in a way that feels similar to a vibration. This can involve faster movements, or even tapping on the gland, so it may take a while to master this technique!

Of course these are just a few simple movements you can try. Ultimately, it’s up to you to experiment with your own body and figure out what works best for you! You can even try additional fingers to give you even more ability to change the sensations!

Prostate Massage Positions

While massaging your prostate with your finger, you might often find that your hands, wrists, or even entire arm begins to tire, and it becomes difficult to maintain the sensation long enough to actually produce a significant amount of fluid.

When you perform prostate massage yourself, this is an unfortunate reality. It’s difficult to bend your body in a way to give good access to your anus.

The simplest solution to this is to get your partner involved! They can reach the prostate much easier than you, and you get to simply sit back and enjoy the feelings rather than concentrating on stroking and reaching your own gland.

Unfortunately, not all of us have the luxury of having a partner who is happy to stick their fingers in our butts. As prostate milking can take a significant amount of time, it’s a good idea to experiment with different positions to try and find the most comfortable one for you.

Some of the most popular positions include:

    • Lying face down: This lets you rest your arms on your back while performing the massage which can help you go for longer before they get tired.
  • Raising your legs: While lying on your back, lifting your legs up can give you a lot more access to your anus. Holding them in the air above you will also be very tiring, so most people tend to rest their knees on their chest, somewhat folding their body in half.
  • Doggy style: Sitting on all fours just like you would during doggy style sex can also give you greater access to your anus. You can either put your arms behind you and rest them on your back, or put them between your legs and under your body.
  • Laying on your side: When lying on your side, you can raise your outer leg and make extra space in a similar way to raising your legs while on your back. The great thing about this position though is that when your leg gets tired of being held up you can roll onto your other side and raise the other leg!

Of course you can explore your body however you see fit, and might be able to find some of your own enjoyable and comfortable prostate massage positions.

Reaching Orgasm From Prostate Massage

Pushing yourself to reach orgasm while milking your prostate is a bit of an optional extra, as the primary point is to simply expel some of the excess prostatic fluid from the body. Of course, prostate orgasms can feel amazing, so who wouldn’t want to push themselves over the edge while they milk it?

Unfortunately, reaching orgasm through prostate stimulation can be quite difficult. Some men milk their prostate for months or even years before they finally reach orgasm. When they do though, it’s one of the most rewarding experiences of their lives!

There’s not a great deal of advice we can give to push you over the edge. You just need to keep trying different positions, techniques, and even different times of day or relaxation techniques before and after milking. Your state of mind seems to be just as important as the physical stimulation, so being as relaxed as possible can really help.

One important note that many men who have experienced prostate orgasm often bring up, is that you need to learn to let go. As the prostatic fluid builds up in your urethra, it will feel more and more like you need to pee. The natural instinct is to just hold it in, as you don’t want to pee yourself.

However this is not urine, but prostatic fluid, and finally letting go and letting it out of your penis can be the final barrier between you and orgasm!

The other tip we can give is to experiment with sex toys! There are many different anal toys that can reach and stimulate your prostate gland. Dildos, butt plugs, anal beads, vibrators, and many more can all help. A glass dildo in particular is a must try—it's known for being firm, smooth, and great for temperature play, which are the perfect ingredients for a savory prostate stimulation. But you may opt for a soft dildo for a subtler and gentler feel as well. There’s even a sex toy specifically designed to stimulate the prostate called a prostate massager. We cover these in much more detail in our guide to prostate massagers, so if you’ve been struggling with your fingers check out this guide and see if they can help you.

You may also incorporate BDSM elements into prostate play. Restricting your senses by wearing bondage straps and a human muzzle, for example, will make you more sensitive to stimulation. Bdsm straps and adult handcuffs will limit your movements and make you focus on your bodily sensations more as you let your partner take control and milk you from the backdoor—not only do you build up sexual tension, you also create a dynamic of trust, control, and pleasure.

Prostate Milking: Something Every Man Should Try

As you can see, there’s a lot more to prostate milking that a doctor sticking their finger up your butt. It can carry many benefits for your prostate and general body health. Not only that, but it can feel great!

With something so pleasurable and beneficial to your body, you really have no excuse not to give it a try yourself!
