What is an Anal Douche?
If you regularly enjoy anal sex or even anal masturbation, then there’s a good chance you’ve probably looked online for tips and tricks to make your experience more enjoyable. One thing you might have seen mentioned time and time again is to douche beforehand.
What is a douche you ask? Well you’re in the right place! Read on to find out what, when and why you should douche to improve any anal pleasure experience.
What Are Anal Douches?
Before we start talking about how or why you might choose to use an anal douche, we should probably talk about what they actually are.
There are two simple parts to nearly all anal douches: a bulb and a nozzle. The bulb is exactly what is sounds like and is designed to hold the liquid you’ll be putting inside your body. The nozzle is a small hollow tube that you insert into your body and use to squirt the liquid out. Put both parts together, and you have a simple device to clean out your rectum!
We should take a moment to touch on the rectum a little more. This is the part of your body found just inside your anus, and it’s a key point when we look at the differences between an anal douche and an enema.
While douches are designed to clean out the rectum, enemas are made to go much deeper, cleaning as far into the body as the colon or large intestine. While an enema will give you a much deeper clean, for the majority of people an anal douche will be more than sufficient for anal sex or play.
By inserting the nozzle of the douche into your anus, then squeezing the bulb, the chosen liquid will be pushed inside your rectum. This works to flush out the rectum, gathering up all the bacteria and leftover faeces into the mixture. When you then expel the liquid out of the body, all of the nasty stuff is carried out too leaving you nice and clean and avoiding any surprises while you enjoy everything your butt has to offer.
Why Should You Anal Douche?
Knowing what a douche is may be one thing, but that doesn’t really tell you why you’d want to stick one up your butt and start washing. The most obvious reason you’d want to douche is to avoid leftover faeces when you’re enjoying anal sex.
Not having to think about this can be a massive weight off your shoulders, and as relaxing is one of the most important aspects of putting anything in your butt, it can make everything a lot more comfortable and enjoyable. With no worries, you can both focus completely on enjoying yourself and making the most of the new sensations you feel.
How Often Should You Anal Douche?
Unless you are completely OCD about your anal hygiene, you aren’t going to need to douche all the time. Doing it too often can even be detrimental to your anal health!
Excessive douching can dry out the wall of your rectum and damage many of the sensitive muscles and nerves found inside the anus. Having a dry anal wall makes it much easier for you to suffer bruises, cuts and tears, turning your clean anal play into something painful.
For a person who is sexually active an average amount, douching once or twice a month will usually be plenty. Leaving a couple of weeks between sessions gives your body time to rehydrate itself.
Some of the bacteria found in your rectum is actually good for you too! While we wash a lot of these good bacteria out by douching, giving the body time between sessions lets your body repopulate its stores of friendly bacteria.
Those of you who are bigger fans of anal sex might decide to douche more often. While there are some risks to this, it isn’t inherently bad. The most important thing is to listen to your own body. Our bodies are great at letting us know when things aren’t quite right, even though sometimes we can’t figure out exactly what’s up.
If you start to douche fairly often and you notice a change in your body, then it’s likely you might be overdoing it a little. Ease up on your douching for a couple of weeks and most of the time things should return to normal.
No matter how often you douche, if you feel any pain or major discomfort during the process then be sure to stop immediately. Wait for the pain to subside before continuing or leave your douching for another day.
How to Anal Douche
We’ve already covered a lot of parts of anal douching so far, but we haven’t even talked about how to do it! Luckily, this is a very simple process.
First you need to fill the bulb part of your douche with whatever liquid you’ve chosen to use. There are many options for this so be sure to do your research before deciding to put something in your body. Then attach the nozzle and insert it into your anus. When ready, squeeze! The liquid will be fed down the nozzle and into your rectum.
Once the liquid is inside, you simply hold it in for a couple of minutes, then let it all out again. You might want to do this in your bathroom, as the liquid is going to need to go somewhere once you’re finished! As it leaves your body, it takes all of the leftover faeces and bacteria with it. Then give yourself a wash off and you’re good to go.
There’s a bunch of reasons to get into anal douching, both inside and outside the bedroom. A good douching session can leave you feeling light, free, and ready for the day ahead. Despite its benefits, douching isn’t for everyone, so the only thing you can do is try it yourself and see what you think!
