Anal Vibrator Safety

Anal Vibrator Safety

Whenever you’re planning to put things into your butt, there’s always going to be some level of risk to your body.

It’s important to be aware of the things that could happen so that you can take steps to avoid it. Ignoring the risks could leave you needing a quick trip to the emergency room!

You shouldn’t let this put you off though. Most of these things are very easy to avoid as long as you take your time and know what you’re doing.

Can You Lose Your Vibrator?

One of the most common things people worry about when using an anal vibrator is losing it inside their body. With many regular vibrators, the risk is much higher.

Most toys designed specifically for anal play will have a base to stop it from travelling too far into your body. Standard vibrators usually don’t have this part. Once something makes it into your rectum, your body will gradually pull it deeper until it reaches your colon and you need a trip to the hospital to remove.

The best thing you can do to avoid this is simply find a vibrator which has a suitable base.

These can be flared, T-bar, pull ring, or anything else but just make sure it has a base!

Using Larger Anal Vibrators

Size is another thing you should consider when being safe with your anal vibrators.

The anal nerves are very sensitive and stretching them too far too quickly can cause you some bruising or tearing. This isn’t to say that you can’t use large vibrators in your anus if you want to. It simply means that you need to work your way up to them.

As a complete beginner even, a smaller vibrator might be quite difficult to insert, so try not to push yourself too far and take a break whenever you need to!

Make Sure To Use Lubrication

Alongside choosing appropriately sized sex toys, you should also make sure that you’re using plenty of lubrication whenever you’re putting any vibrators in your butt.

Inserting anything dry is definitely going to hurt and the majority of people who say they don’t enjoy anal sex will simply have not used enough lubrication.

You need a lot more than you think, so really make sure you cover your vibrator in the stuff.

It’s not just the amount of lubrication either. There are several different types of lubricant out there, and some are more suitable for anal play than others.

In general, oil-based lubricant tends to be the best choice for anal stimulation.

You can also use silicone-based lube, but it reacts badly with silicone toys, or water-based lube, but this tends to dry out very quickly.

Buy Body-Safe Materials

There are a range of materials to choose from when you go shopping for an anal vibrator.

While many people will have their own preferences on what feels good, there is a key point to cover when it comes to safety.

All sex toy materials can be loosely grouped into two categories: porous and non-porous. These categories are relatively simple and describe the size of the pores in the sex toy materials.

Porous materials have much larger pores, so bacteria can pass through and stay within the surface.

Non-porous materials have much smaller pores meaning they don’t suffer the same problem.

While porous vibrators can be kept clean with the right care, they can never be truly sterilised. If you want the safest kind of anal vibrator, then always go for a non-porous material.

Natural Wear And Tear

Just like anything else we own our sex toys are naturally going to wear out over time.

This can take the form of small cracks in the surface of the material.  Not only can these make the toy less comfortable and enjoyable to use, but it can also be quite dangerous.

The cracks can become sharp or raised and cause damage to your anal lining while you use your vibrator.

Despite these dangers, anal vibrators are still one of the safest kinds of sex toys on the market, so you shouldn’t be discouraged. As long as you purchase a high-quality vibrator with a solid base, you shouldn’t have too many problems!
